The team from the Philippines included Mr. Curameng, the President of MAMA and their Charman together with all the Board members. About 20 Philipines agencies came together, hoping to network with our Malaysian agencies.

A notice was immediately sent to all PAPA members and the response was good as they gathered in Federal Hotel for the Forun & Dinner. Evberyone felt positive as business to get Philippines Domestic Helpers and workers could be secured in this meeting as many of them are not only doing domestic helper but as our Acting President, Mr. Jeffery Foo has mentioned, there are great opportunity for them to supply Philippines workers to the sectors that are opened for the factories, hotels, plantations and service sector.

The meeting started with a brief introduction and speeches given by both Mr. Jeffer Foo and Mr. Curameng. Our Organizing Chairman has stressed that we are a family and should discuss like a family and help one another as a family. Only then both parties can prosper and the relationship be fruitful.

There was great excitement especially when the agencies from both countries were having their dinner together, mixing around and getting to know one another. There was much talk and discussion and even after an hour when it was time for the forum to begin, no one wanted to sit down but carrying on talking. Took us quite some time to get their attention and to sit down to begin the forum where views were exchanged and questions were allowed and were directed to both Mr. Jeffery Foo and Mr. Curameng.

The views given and questions asked were practical questions and answered given were very assuring especially from the MAMA President Mr. Curameng. Questions were asked on cost structure, salary and standard procedures of both countries and the protection of the domestic helpers and also the agencies from both countries. The Forum ended in a high note with all agencies from both countries wanting to work together and agreeing to work together to ensure fairness and the protection of the interest of all parties.

We have organized two of such meetings last year, the first meeting was held in Mr. Bayen’s office and the second meeting was held in PAPA office. We would like to informed all PAPA members that the first two meetings have resulted in quite a number of Malaysian agencies getting their biodata fro them and are now market Philipines domestic helpers.

As this is already the third effort by PAPA in organizing such a meeting, we hope that more PAPA members will not miss the opportunity to get linked up with at least one of the Philippines agencies, to get the accreditation done and to start marketing the Philippnes domestic helpers as soon as possible.
