ACTIVITY REPORT BY PAPA FROM 09.08.2010 – 21.11.2010

We would like to keep all PAPA members informed of the various activities that PAPA has initiated in response the present predicament faced by all PAPA members. This is part of our effort as the AJK of PAPA to see how best we could find a solution or in any way be of help to our members.

ACTIVITIES INITIATED BY PAPA:

  1. VISITATION TO THE PHILIPPINE EMBASSY ON 09.08.2010
    Our Deputy President, Mr. Jeffery Foo and our Vice President 2, Mr. Bayen Lok (on behalf of PAPA) have visited the Philippines Embassy to see the Labor Attaché’, Mr. HJ. Hassan to find out how best we could recruit Filipino Maids and what are the issues at hand.

    It was a good meeting and at the end of the pleasant discussion, we were asked to get at least 20 agencies that are interested to get accreditation and to start supplying Filipino Maids to their customers.

    A notice was sent out to all PAPA members and on 01.11.2010 and we have gathered a list of 26 members who have responded. We have submitted to the Philippines Embassy the detail list of the 26 agencies for processing.

    On 22.11.2010, we have again visited Mr. Hj. Hassan and we are now waiting for further instruction when we can gather all the 26 members who have registered for the accreditation.

  2. PAPA DELEGATION MEETING WITH KP JTK ON 19.08.2010
    On 19.08.2010, our President, Encik Alwie, led a PAPA delegation to meet up with KP JTK to discuss on the cost structure of hiring Indonesian maids. The delegation consisted of Encik Alwie, Mr. Jeffery Foo, Mr. Foo Yong Hooi, Mr. Bayen Lok and Kol (B) Hj. Muhamad Maidin.

    In the meeting, the various expects of the maid industry have been discussed and the KP JTK has taken note of our proposal and we will leave the matter to the government for bring it up with our Indonesian counterpart.

  3. THE ABOLISHMENT OF THE RM100,000.00 BOND BY AGENCIES (21.09.2010)
    AS discussed earlier with the KP JTR, the security bond of RM100,000.00 imposed by JIM has been abolished.

    All members have been informed of the new arrangement and this has been the result of our discussion together with another party. Syabas to JIM!

  4. ELECTION OF OUR DEPUTY PRESIDENT TO INSTITUT KAJIAN MALAYSIA & ANTARA BANGSA (UKM)
    We are proud to inform all members that our Deputy President, Mr. Jeffery Foo has been elected as an Advisor in the board of Committee in the Institut Kajian Malaysia & Antarabangsa (UKM).

    He was duly elected and appointed to assist in advising them on all human resource matters.

  5. MEETING WITH TKSU, KDN YM. DATO’ RAJA AZAHAR BY PAPA DELEGATE ON 04.11.2010
    Our President together with our Deputy President led a delegation to meet up with TKSU for a discussion concerning the intake of Indonesian Maids, the Maid Industry in general and the various issues that can be initiated on our own.

    The delegation consisted of our President, Deputy President, the two Vice President, Assistant Secretary Pn. Mas Torah, Mr. Ivan Leong, Kol (B) Hj. Muhamad, Mr. Jeromy Yap, Mr. Jason Tan, Mr. Liew and Mej. (B) Mohd.

    Several issues were discussed and agreed upon and we shall see the realization of certain Immigration procedures be implemented soon.

  6. PAPA DELEGATION COURTESY VISIT TO NEW KP JIM ON 09.11.2010
    On 09.11.2010, our President Encik Alwie, led a delegation to pay a courtesy visit to the incoming new KP JIM, Dato’ Alias Bin Hj. Ahmad together with TKP, Ahmad Ismail.

    PAPA has briefed the new KP JIM on the various issues faced by PAPA members and other issues affecting the Maid Industry.

    The new KP JIM together with TKP were very receptive of the various proposals put forward and we can only wait for the realization of the proposal in due course.

  7. VISITATION BY FLYING SQUAD FROM KSM ON 15.11.2010
    On 15.11.2010, the Flying Squad from KSM visited our PAPA office together with two officers from their Departments.

    Their purpose was to gather information, feedbacks and proposals on the Maid Industry as they wanted to hear from PAPA the issues faced by the Industry and by the Employers in general.
